MVP Plumbing does the plumbing on bathroom and kitchen remodels across Baytown, Mont Belvieu and the surrounding area: rough-ins, moving supply and drain lines to suit a new layout, tub-to-shower conversions, fixture sets, and working around the other trades. Licensed master plumber, MPL 38224. Call 832-334-2836.
We work on existing houses. We do not do new construction — that is a deliberate limit, not an oversight.
What does remodel plumbing include?
- The rough-in — supply and drain lines set where the new layout needs them, before the walls close
- Moving fixtures — toilets, showers, tubs, sinks and laundry connections relocated to suit the new room
- Tub-to-shower conversions
- Fixture sets at the end — tubs, valves, faucets and toilets
- Water heater work as part of a larger remodel
- Coordinating with the other trades, so nobody is standing on anybody
A whole-house plumbing remodel in Anahuac
Job notes · Anahuac — whole-house plumbing remodel
A whole-house plumbing remodel on an existing house. Included a bathroom with a freestanding tub on a floor-mounted filler, new fixtures throughout, water heater work, toilets and a laundry connection.
That is an existing house taken through its plumbing properly rather than patched a fixture at a time: supply and drain lines moved to suit the new layout, rough-ins set before the walls closed, fixtures set at the end.

Why does the rough-in matter so much?
The rough-in is the part of a remodel that decides whether your schedule holds.
Once the walls and floor are closed, the plumbing is where it is. A freestanding tub on a floor-mounted filler is the clearest example: the supply comes up through the floor in exactly one place, and there is no adjusting it afterwards. The same goes for a valve height, a drain position or a toilet that has to clear a vanity.
So the plumbing gets planned against the finished layout, set, and tested before anything covers it.

Should I replace old pipe while the walls are open?
A remodel is the right moment to deal with pipe you would otherwise be closing a wall over. If the house has old galvanized and you are already seeing the signs — brown flecks or grit in the water, pressure that has dropped off, several leaks close together — replacing it now costs far less than opening the same wall again later.
Inside the walls we run Uponor PEX-a. On copper we use Viega MegaPress press fittings, a cold joint made with a press tool, so there is no open flame next to new framing and insulation. See repiping.

Can I update a shower valve without retiling?
Not every update is a full remodel. Where the valve allows it, we change a shower or tub valve by cutting in from the front through the tile, measured so the trim plate covers the opening — no wall opened from behind, no tile to match. Around Baytown a lot of tub and shower valves back onto a closet, and when they do we cut from the closet side and fit an access panel instead of patching.
And if a full remodel is coming in a year or two, we will tell you not to spend money on fixtures that are coming out anyway. See fixtures, valves and toilets.

Can a drain be moved on a slab house?
Yes, but it is a bigger job than on a raised house, and it is worth knowing before the layout is final. Under a pier-and-beam house the drains are reachable from underneath. Under a slab they are in the ground beneath the concrete, so moving one means opening the slab along the route the new line takes.

Remodelers and general contractors
If you run bathroom and kitchen remodels, the plumbing rough-in is the part that decides whether your schedule holds. We do the rough-in, move supply and drain lines, handle tub-to-shower conversions and fixture sets, and work around the trades doing the rest. Where the job needs a licensed master plumber, a permit and a city inspection, that is handled under MPL 38224. See licensed master plumber for contractors.

Common questions
Do you do bathroom and kitchen remodel plumbing?
Yes. Remodel work on an existing house is part of what we do - rough-ins, moving supply and drain lines, tub-to-shower conversions, fixture sets, and coordinating with the other trades.
Do you do new construction?
No. We work on existing houses. We are a service, repair and remodel company, and we would rather say that than take a new build and learn on your house.
Can you move my toilet, shower or sink to a new spot?
Yes, moving supply and drain lines to suit a new layout is part of remodel work. On a raised house the drains are reachable underneath. On a slab house, moving a drain means opening the slab along the new route, and we will tell you what that involves before the layout is final.
Should I replace old pipe while the walls are open?
It is the right moment to look at it. If the house has old galvanized and you are seeing debris in the water or pressure that has dropped off, replacing the pipe you are about to close a wall over costs far less now than opening the wall again later.
Do you work with my remodeler or contractor?
Yes. A lot of our remodel work is alongside other trades, and for general contractors and remodelers we provide the licensed master plumber the job needs, pull the permit where one is required and handle the city inspection.
Do you install freestanding tubs?
Yes. The Anahuac remodel finished with a freestanding tub on a floor-mounted filler. That has to be planned at rough-in, because the supply comes up through the floor in exactly one place and there is no adjusting it afterwards.
