That job is a fair description of why we are in League City at all. A facility maintenance company with capable in-house staff hit the one thing they could not do themselves — certify a gas test — and needed a licensed master plumber to do it.
Who needs an annual gas pressure test
Daycares, multifamily complexes and certain commercial properties are required to have one.
This does not apply to restaurants as a blanket rule. We are putting that in writing because it would be easy to imply otherwise and sell more tests. If a restaurant needs one it will be for a specific reason, not because restaurants categorically require them.

Why maintenance companies subcontract this
Most facility maintenance operations have people who handle the overwhelming majority of what a building needs. What they usually do not have is a licensed master plumber on payroll.
That matters for a narrow but unavoidable band of work: anything certified, permitted, or signed off for an inspector. The test itself is not the hard part. The license behind the paperwork is the part that cannot be substituted, and an inspector is relying on it.

If a test fails
A failed test tells you there is a leak. It does not tell you where. The next step is isolating the system by section and testing again to narrow it down, which is how you avoid digging on a guess.
If the repair turns out to be underground, it goes through the city: permit, dig, the ditch stays open for inspection, backfill, city release. Two days minimum, and that sequence cannot be compressed. Knowing it on day one is what lets you plan around it. See gas line services.
Being straight about the drive
League City is around the bay from Baytown, and it is a fair distance. We are not going to pretend otherwise or imply we are local here.
For commercial work — gas testing, scheduled maintenance, larger jobs — the drive is not the deciding factor and we come out regularly. For a small residential repair there may well be a plumber closer to you who should do it, and if that is the case we will tell you rather than take the trip.
